Horror at High School: 43 Dead, 3 Missing

In what has become the single most devastating school-related incidents of violence in American history, the authorities are still unclear as to the events of yesterdays’ violence at Lake Mary High School. Although official numbers and names of the dead have yet to be released by the police department, it is estimated that at least 59 students were injured yesterday at the school; victims of an unknown group that terrorized the school for over an hour which left at least 37 students, 5 faculty members, and one policeman dead. Three more students have yet to be accounted for. The attackers’ identities have yet to be entirely discovered, or indeed if all of the violent participants in yesterday’s bloodbath were even connected at all.
Although video records from the school did indicate at least one shooter, reports are varied as to how many shooters there actually was on the grounds. While only a portion of the victims died due to firearm wounds, an entire class of 16 students and their teacher seem to have been slain in execution style.
However, even the forms of violence that the attackers used varied, and many students recounted seeing their classmates turn on one another in violent, brutal attacks. Police on scene speculated that several of students must have taken the opportunity of the initial shooting to rampage through the school, attacking their classmates with makeshift clubs, weapons, or even bare hands. More than one of the confirmed unarmed attackers identified by students had a previous record of violent and drug-related crime. The possibility of narcotic-based rages is under investigation.
More unsettling than this brutality, however, was the prospect that the attack was so coolly planned: We can exclusively report that a type of interference device was found at the scene which, according to police investigators, is a short ranged, commercially available, scrambler. The investigator, name withheld, explained that this was likely the reason that so many of the schools inhabitants reported a lack of cell-phone reception during the attack. “But,” he went on to say, “that only confuses us more as to what went wrong. A tactic like that means there was planning and method to this madness, but what happened in there can’t have been part of their strategy.” Referring to the terrifying scenes of brutality, as almost half of the students injured were treated at various medical center for injuries sustained in brawling.
Falling so swiftly on the heels of the Virginia Tech massacre, this horrific scenario has left many weeping parents and students alike pointing their fingers at the programs that were supposed to safeguard them from this kind of terror. After all, when the school was rebuilt this last year, it purportedly one of the most secure public schools in America.
This may come as a crushing blow to the Mayor of Lake Mary, as his own role in funding the advanced security measures at the newly rebuilt school made up a large portion of his political campaign this last election, having organized a number of fundraisers and channeled a considerable part of his own wealth into the high tech systems installed at the school. Such a crushing and terrifying attack taking place within it’s walls surely calls into question the usefulness of the systems that were in place, and a formal review of a number of the security contractors’ designs is expected. However, as one of the officers on the scene commented, “from the looks of it in there, those [security systems] may have kept this from getting a whole lot bigger than it did.”
All classes, meetings, and end of year tests have been cancelled. At the joint requests of the school, parents, and the authorities, names of the victims and suspected attackers is being withheld pending a completed investigation.

Most of the cities top brass as well as every member of the Guardian Angels turned out last Saturday to pay their respects to the eleven people killed in the fire that consumed the Archangel offices.
Kalvin Moniker, local Orlando GA, "We all wanted to show our heartfelt respect on the people that made it possible for us to carry on the cause. Even Curtis [Sliwa] made it out, even though he is busy."

Baby 'Bubba' Gets State Gun Permit

CHICAGO - Bubba Ludwig cannot walk, talk or open the refrigerator door - but he does have his very own Illinois gun permit. The 10-month-old, whose given name is Howard David Ludwig, was issued a firearm owner's identification card after his father, Howard Ludwig, paid the $5 fee and filled out the application, not expecting to actually get one. The card lists the baby's height at 2 feet, 3 inches, weight at 20 pounds and has a scribble where the signature should be.
With some exceptions, the cards are required of any Illinois residents purchasing or possessing firearms or ammunition within the state. There are no age restrictions on the cards, an official said.
Illinois State Police oversee the application process. Their purpose, said Lt. Scott Compton, is to keep guns out of the hands of convicted felons, those under an order of protection and those convicted of domestic violence.
"Does a 10-month-old need a FOID card? No, but there are no restrictions under the act regarding age of applicants," he said. Ludwig, 30, of Chicago, applied for the card after his own father bought Bubba a 12-gauge Beretta shotgun as a gift. The weapon will probably be kept at Ludwig's father's house until the boy is at least 14.

Masked Movie Patrons Made to Leave

When three people approached the box office of the Regal movie theater at Winter Park Village wearing identical pale blue outfits and masks yesterday afternoon, at first the employee merely dismissed them as ardent fans of some film or another. After buying tickets, and entering the lobby, a number of other patrons of the theater found the individuals disturbing. Though all parties agree that the three persons took no action whatsoever to disrupt business (each of them having bought drinks) all the employees of the theater remember that some individuals were put ill at ease by the masked patrons.
The individuals meandered in the lobby before proceeding to their movie, speaking occasionally with each other or other movie-goers. Those that recall the conversations note that the individuals voices seemed muffled, and that no identifying features of any kind could distinguish the persons. Management of the theater was notified of the individuals when the trio went into their film, having frightened a number of other patrons by their mere presence.
Management asked the trio to vacate the premises, to which the trio accented after receiving full refunds, though not before a police officer in the Winter Park Village complex was notified of the ‘disturbance’. Believing this to be another ‘flash-mob’ prank of some sort, the officer discussed the matter with the trio, before being informed that they were clothed as such for religious reasons.

Gangs of Pine Hills Lend a Hand

For years, there has been a part of Orlando that it’s citizens avoided, distrusted, and practically pretended didn’t exist. The Pine Hills neighborhoods, or ‘Crime Hills’, as some call it, has been widely known to be a nexus of poverty, crime, and danger when night falls. The people of the Pine Hills area have lived their lives fearful of gangs, drug-crime, and the highest rate of violent crime in the city.
That is, this is what everyone believes. The fact is, in the last months, the denizens of Pine Hills have finally had enough. It is unclear what has caused the shift, but crime rates overall have plummeted throughout the neighborhood, with violent crime rates reported at being less than 30 percent of figures three years ago. This shift in crime rates has allowed the local authorities to focus their efforts into an effective crackdown on drug related incidents, which has since declined to less than half of previous estimated figures. Streets where, once, a person could not walk alone in the mid-afternoon are now devoid of any but the most harmless of vagrants.
More amazing than this, however, is the fact that this shift of trends was, in part, instigated by the gangs of the area. As displayed this last week, the people that were once considered the bane of the neighborhoods have taken it upon themselves to make the homes and neighborhoods safer places to live. This last Wednesday, when a group of young men from Miami entered the neighborhood with over 15,000 dollars in narcotics, a tip from a Neighborhood Watch program led the police to arrest the men before the drugs hit the street. What was strange about this is that the tip came from a young man, name withheld, who himself has a gang-related criminal history, and is out on parole.
“It kinda makes sense, I guess.” He stated in an interview. “I mean, [this is] our ‘hood, and if anyone is gonna see [expletive deleted] go down in it, it’s gonna be us. Why should we deal with it when the [Police]’ll do it themselves? We got better [expletive deleted] to do. Makes sense to us.”
County Commissioner Rudolph Kelly spoke at a presentation in the Pine Hills neighborhood this last Thursday, applauding the community for its drive, before personally assisting a number of local businesses with applying for government loans and grants. “You are the real American Spirit. Not fleeing hard times, not taking the opportunities of others, but facing your own, and making them better.”
Woman Survives Car Crash and Decapitation

In what has unilaterally been called a medical miracle, Lydia Johnson was released from the Intensive Care Unit of the Florida Hospital in Orlando after having survived a head-on vehicular collision two weeks ago. During the crash, Johnson suffered a direct blow to the head from debris, which separated the connections that held her skull to the base of her spine. Called an Internal Decapitation, the condition has only been diagnosed in living patients twice in verified medical history, though neither patient survived the trauma that caused the damage for more than three days.
But even more amazing was how she got to the hospital: After pulling herself from her wreckage of a car, she walked fifty yards to a telephone where she reported the accident itself. Johnson, 28, remarked after her surgery that she recalled feeling ‘stiffness’ and shooting pains in her neck, and stated that she had held her own head upright on the walk.
Additionally, Johnson suffered damage to her jaw and left eye, as well as swelling of the spinal tissue. Doctors report that this is ‘typical’ to the exceptionally atypical wound. Surgeons spent over 15 hours in surgery trying to secure the base of her spine to her skull, with limited success. Although the halo device that holds her head in place has not yet been removed, her doctor reports that the rest of her neck tissues remained largely whole. While some mobility has been restricted in her legs, doctors suggest that this is the result of, not the damage suffered, but of the resultant swelling, and should recede as her body heals.
“Its absolutely amazing.” Her doctor, Brian Hortam, stated this last Sunday. “In any other time or place, she should have been dead within minutes. Frankly, she should have been dead in this one. Absolutely amazing… It’s enough to make you think that maybe there are angels out there.”
The other driver in the crash suffered only 3 broken ribs and minor bruising.
